Brides (and grooms) wanting their best skin on the day usually start prepping 12 months out. Some treatments take a full course to deliver results; others need precise timing in the final weeks. The Adelaide UV climate factors in too. Here’s the timeline that produces the best results.

12 months out

Skin assessment. Book a consultation with the clinic you want to work with for the year. Get a treatment plan covering pigmentation, texture, fine lines, hydration — and the priorities for your specific skin.

Topical foundation. If not already on a routine, start:

  • Daily SPF 50+ broad-spectrum
  • Vitamin C serum AM
  • Tretinoin (prescribed) PM, building tolerance gradually
  • Niacinamide

Lifestyle calibration. Hydration, sleep, alcohol moderation, smoking cessation if relevant.

9–12 months out

Pigmentation and sun-damage course. If significant work needed:

  • IPL series (4 sessions, every 4 weeks)
  • Or fractional laser series
  • Or combined approach

This typically falls in autumn/winter for Adelaide weddings — UV cool-season scheduling.

RF microneedling course for textural concerns or scarring (3 sessions over 12 weeks, if relevant).

6 months out

Switch to maintenance. Intensive courses complete; transition to monthly or 6-weekly maintenance.

First-time injectable consultation. If considering anti-wrinkle or filler for the first time, this is the right window. Treatment 6 months out gives time for:

  • Adjustment if not happy with first result
  • Top-up at 2-week review
  • Refresh closer to wedding if needed

Lip filler timing for wedding. If you want lip filler:

  • 6 months out: first session if first-time
  • 4 months out: top-up if needed
  • Final refresh 2–3 months out so settled by wedding

3 months out

Anti-wrinkle refresh (if maintenance patient). Full effect by 2–3 weeks; refresh maintains soft natural appearance.

Skin needling or RF microneedling final session if continuing course.

HydraFacial start of pre-event series — every 4 weeks now through wedding.

Trial makeup with bridal makeup artist. Identify any final skin concerns.

6 weeks out

Anti-wrinkle final cycle if maintenance — full settled result by wedding day.

Lip filler refresh if needed — final visible swelling/bruising fully resolved by wedding.

HydraFacial — second pre-event session.

4 weeks out

Skip new active treatments that risk redness, peeling, or pigmentation rebound:

  • No new chemical peels
  • No new laser sessions
  • No new aggressive skincare additions

Continue maintenance only.

2 weeks out

HydraFacial — final pre-event session for hydration and glow.

Anti-wrinkle review if recently treated.

No new treatments.

1 week out

No invasive treatments. No needling, no laser, no peels.

HydraFacial OK if feeling stressed about skin — gentle treatment with no downtime.

Hydration and rest. Cumulative sleep, water, gentle skincare.

3–5 days out

Dermaplaning (optional) — provides smoothest makeup application surface.

Final HydraFacial at exactly 3 days out is many Adelaide brides’ favourite — peak glow on the day.

Day before

  • Drink water, sleep, no alcohol
  • No new skincare products
  • Light skincare routine only
  • Prepare wedding kit

Wedding day

  • Cleanse, hydrate, SPF (yes, even on cloudy days, even indoor)
  • Makeup application

Avoid in the 1–2 weeks before

  • Any new laser, peel, or microneedling
  • Trying new skincare brands
  • Strong active acids (glycolic, salicylic) that you haven’t been using regularly
  • Significant alcohol or salty meals (puffiness)
  • Excessive sun exposure (last-minute tanning)

Adelaide-specific timing

For typical Adelaide wedding seasons:

  • Autumn weddings (March–May): time pigmentation work in the previous winter; final laser by November
  • Spring weddings (Sep–Nov): pigmentation work April–August; transition to maintenance in September
  • Summer weddings (Dec–Feb): complete laser work by August; maintenance through summer
  • Winter weddings (June–August): most flexibility; can run treatment courses up to 8 weeks before

Pricing — typical 12-month wedding skin investment

  • Initial consultation: $80–$150
  • Topical regimen: $200–$500/year
  • Pigmentation IPL series: $800–$1,500
  • RF microneedling 3 sessions: $1,500–$3,500
  • Anti-wrinkle 4 cycles: $800–$2,000
  • Lip filler 1–2 sessions: $500–$1,400
  • HydraFacial monthly for 12 months: $2,200–$3,800
  • Pre-wedding dermaplaning + HydraFacial: $200–$400

Total range: $6,000–$13,000 across 12 months for a comprehensive plan. Many brides spend less by selecting fewer modalities; some spend more.
