Facial Consultation Adelaide

Request a cosmetic facial consultation in Adelaide to discuss lines, volume loss, lip shape or skin quality with a registered health practitioner.

A cosmetic facial consultation is a conversation before any decision. You explain what's bothering you about your face or skin, and a registered health practitioner assesses you, explains which options may be suitable, what the risks and costs are, and what the alternatives are — including doing nothing at all.

DermaFox Aesthetics arranges consultations for people across Adelaide and is not itself a medical or cosmetic practitioner. Any treatment decision is made with the registered health practitioner who assesses you.

Concerns people commonly bring to a consultation

Most people arrive with a concern rather than a treatment in mind. Common ones include:

  • Lines and wrinkles — lines that show when you frown, smile or raise your brows, and lines that stay when your face is at rest. See the lines and wrinkles consultation.
  • Volume loss — a flatter mid-face or hollowing that comes with age or weight change. See the facial volume consultation.
  • Lip shape and symmetry — uneven lips, thinning with age, dryness or lines around the mouth. See the lip consultation.
  • Under-eye hollows — shadowing under the eyes, which can have several different causes.
  • Jawline and chin profile — how the lower face looks in profile. Jaw clenching, teeth grinding or jaw pain are health issues best raised with your dentist or GP first.
  • Skin quality — texture, pigmentation, redness, dullness or enlarged pores.

Naming the concern, rather than asking for a particular treatment, gives the practitioner room to recommend what actually suits you.

What happens at the consultation

A thorough consultation usually covers:

  1. Your health history — medical conditions, medicines and supplements, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, previous cosmetic treatments and any problems you had with them.
  2. An assessment — your face at rest and in movement, skin type and condition, and facial proportions.
  3. Your goals — what bothers you, why now, and what you hope will change. Practitioners are expected to consider whether a cosmetic procedure is appropriate for you, including whether there are underlying concerns such as body image distress.
  4. Options — which may include skincare and sun protection, skin treatments such as chemical peels or skin needling, options that can only be discussed in a consultation, referral to a specialist such as a dermatologist, or no treatment.
  5. Risks, recovery and costs — explained for each option, with costs confirmed in writing.

Treatments that involve prescription medicines can only be considered after an in-person consultation with an appropriately qualified, registered health practitioner. That’s why this site describes concerns and consultations, not specific products.

Risks and suitability

Every cosmetic procedure carries risk, and results vary from person to person. Depending on the option discussed, risks can include redness, swelling, bruising, discomfort, infection, pigment changes, asymmetry, an outcome you don’t like and, rarely, more serious complications. Recovery varies; your practitioner will explain what to expect.

You may not be suitable for some options if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or cold sore, have certain medical conditions, or take certain medicines. Tell your practitioner about everything you take, including supplements.

Before you book

  • Check the practitioner on the Ahpra public register and ask what type of registration they hold.
  • Ask who will carry out any treatment and whether the same person will see you at follow-up.
  • Ask about all your options, including non-treatment and skin-focused alternatives.
  • Ask for the full cost in writing, including any follow-up appointments.
  • Take time to think. Don’t feel pressured to decide on the day.
  • Cosmetic consultations are for adults (18+). Cosmetic surgery has extra rules, including a GP referral and a cooling-off period, so ask about these if surgery is being discussed.

How pricing works

We don’t publish treatment prices for facial concerns. Costs depend on your assessment, the option you and your practitioner settle on, and how many appointments are involved. Any consultation fee is confirmed before you book, and treatment costs are only quoted in writing after you’ve been assessed. For non-prescription skin treatments, indicative ranges are listed on our skin and laser treatments and advanced facials and skin treatments pages.

Consultations across Adelaide

We take enquiries from across greater Adelaide — the CBD and North Adelaide, the eastern suburbs, the coast from Glenelg to Brighton, the north and south, and the Adelaide Hills. When you get in touch, let us know your suburb, the days and times that suit, and whether parking or public transport access matters to you.

Frequently asked questions

What is a cosmetic facial consultation?

It's an appointment where a registered health practitioner takes your health history, assesses your face and skin, listens to what's bothering you and explains suitable options, their risks and costs, and the alternatives, including no treatment.

How much does a facial consultation cost?

Requesting a consultation is free and there's no obligation. Any consultation fee is set by the practitioner and confirmed before you book. Treatment costs are only quoted in writing after you've been assessed.

Can you tell me which product will be used?

No. That's only discussed with the practitioner during the consultation, because prescription medicines can't be advertised to the public in Australia. Treatments involving prescription medicines can only be considered after an in-person consultation with an appropriately qualified, registered health practitioner.

Will I be treated on the same day?

Not necessarily. A consultation is a chance to get information and ask questions. You should be given time to think about the options, costs and risks before deciding on anything.

Is DermaFox Aesthetics a clinic?

No. DermaFox Aesthetics arranges consultations and is not itself a medical or cosmetic practitioner. Any treatment decision is made with the registered health practitioner who assesses you.

Who can book a cosmetic facial consultation?

Cosmetic consultations are for adults aged 18 and over.
