They are non-invasive cosmetic skin treatments for dryness, dullness and general skin maintenance. Indicative prices range from about $80 for LED to $420 for a premium HydraFacial. Request a consultation and we'll get back to you within 24–48 hours.

Advanced facials — often called medi-spa treatments — are non-invasive facial treatments that go a step beyond a standard facial, using devices such as hydradermabrasion, a dermaplaning blade or an LED panel. They are cosmetic skin treatments, not medical treatments, and the “medi-spa” label does not mean they are performed or supervised by a doctor or nurse. Ask who will perform your treatment and what training they have.

DermaFox Aesthetics arranges consultations and is not itself a medical or cosmetic practitioner. Any treatment decision is made with the practitioner who assesses you.

Three types of advanced facial

  • Hydrating and exfoliating facials — HydraFacial and other hydradermabrasion treatments
  • Surface exfoliation — dermaplaning, enzyme exfoliation and light peels
  • Light-based facial treatments — LED light therapy

These are sometimes combined in one appointment (for example, HydraFacial with LED) or planned as a series.

When an advanced facial may suit you

  • General skin maintenance, or preparing for an event
  • Surface dryness and dullness
  • Between other skin treatments, where your practitioner advises it
  • Skin preparation before other treatments

When an advanced facial isn’t the right answer

  • Significant pigmentation or sun damage — see skin and laser treatments
  • Acne scarring — see skin needling
  • Active or persistent acne — a GP or dermatologist can discuss medical treatment options
  • Lines and facial volume loss — these are concerns to discuss at a facial consultation

A good consultation tells you when a facial isn’t the right fit.

Risks and suitability

Even non-invasive facials carry risks, including redness, irritation, breakouts, small nicks (dermaplaning), allergic reactions to products and, for people with darker skin, pigment changes after irritation. You may not be suitable, or may need to wait, if you have active acne, a rosacea flare, a cold-sore outbreak, a skin infection, sunburn, or are using some prescription skin medicines. Recovery varies; your practitioner will explain what to expect.

Before you book

  • Ask who will perform the treatment and what training they have; where they are a registered health practitioner, check the Ahpra public register.
  • Tell them about any skin conditions, allergies and the products and medicines you use.
  • Ask for prices in writing and take time to think before committing to a series.
  • Cosmetic consultations are for adults (18+).

Frequently asked questions

What is a medi-spa facial?

"Medi-spa" usually describes facials that use devices, such as hydradermabrasion, a dermaplaning blade or an LED panel, rather than products alone. They are cosmetic skin treatments. The label doesn't mean a doctor or nurse performs or supervises them, so ask who will treat you and what training they have.

How much is a facial in Adelaide?

Indicative Adelaide ranges are HydraFacial $180–$420 depending on tier, dermaplaning $80–$140 (or $130–$220 with a mask and LED), and a standalone LED session $80–$180. Your actual cost is confirmed in writing before treatment.

Which facial is right for my skin?

It depends on your skin, your goals and any skin conditions. HydraFacial is often discussed for dryness and congestion, dermaplaning for surface dead skin and fine facial hair, and LED as an add-on or for sensitive skin. A consultation should also tell you when a facial isn't the right fit.

How often should I have an advanced facial?

Some people have a single facial before an event, while others book regularly for maintenance. There's no set rule; your practitioner will advise, and you don't need to commit to a series on the day.

Can I have a facial if I have acne or rosacea?

You may need to wait if you have active acne, a rosacea flare, a cold sore, a skin infection or sunburn. Persistent acne or rosacea is best discussed with a GP or dermatologist, who can talk through medical treatment options.
