Common myths

“Dermaplaning makes hair grow back thicker.” Vellus hair and coarser terminal hair are biologically different, and dermaplaning does not convert one into the other. Fine hair usually grows back over a few weeks.

“Dermaplaning is the same as shaving.” Mechanically similar, but the blade, technique and purpose differ — dermaplaning focuses on surface exfoliation as well as hair removal.

“It’s only for women.” Anyone can ask about dermaplaning; suitability depends on your skin, not your gender.
